Job Description:  Our client provides cyber security, information technology (IT), and compliance services to small and mid-sized organizations. Network Engineers are responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing the local and wide area networks to ensure maximum up-time for users at various sites. The role includes designing system configurations, documenting and managing the installation of a new network, and maintaining and upgrading existing systems as necessary.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, install, operate and maintain on-premise, cloud and hybrid networks on client sites, in Data Centers, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) across the US (but primarily in So Cal)
  • Design and implement new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
  • Install, configure and support network equipment including firewalls, routers, switches, DNS and DHCP
  • Procure network equipment and manage network administrators involved with network installation
  • Configure firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
  • Maximize network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Oversee/execute network change management operations
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot network issues
  • Report network status to key stakeholders
  • Document networking processes and procedures
  • Research and identify solutions to software and hardware issues
  • Track network and system issues through to resolution, within agreed time limits
  • Handle escalated unresolved issues reported by clients
  • Prioritize and manage several open issues at one time
  • Follow up with clients to ensure their systems are fully functional after troubleshooting

Requirements:

  • Have had an active Secret Security Clearance within past 10 years
  • Military or Federal Government experience
  • Experience in a customer support role
  • Hands-on configuration experience of network devices
  • Experience systematically troubleshooting networking issues
  • Proficiency in English
  • Customer-oriented and cool-tempered
  • Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux/Mac OS environments
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal
  • An ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Strong documentation skills

Preferred:

  • Additional certification in AWS, Microsoft, Linux or similar technologies
  • Security Plus, CISM, and/or CISSP certification
  • CCNA or CCNP certification
  • Experience working with Palo Alto and Cisco devices
