TITLE: Application Development Manager (Possibly Director)
LOCATION: Cypress, Ca (Hybrid 2-3 days a week – flexible)
WORK HOURS: Usually, standard 8-5
DURATION: Immediate Temp to cover person out on leave who has been there over 20 years / possible Contract to Hire or Direct Hire/ Full Time Employee
SALARY RANGE: (DOE) $90 – $133K (willing to go higher for the right person. Need to discuss hourly rate)
HIERARCHY: Reports to CIO (DKKD staffed before)
SIZE OF COMPANY: <200
SIZE OF IT TEAM: 8 in software, 4 on help desk, 2 on systems 1 contractor, 1 CTO and 1 manager
SIZE OF STAFF TO OVERSEE: 5-8
TECHNOLOGIES:
Currently vetting Cloud solutions to migrate to. Nothing has been chosen yet. So we need somebody who has lots of experience working with vendors, negotiating prices and costs and choosing the appropriate vendor.
Microsoft Office Suite and similar software
Microsoft Visual Basic, .NET and SQL experience (in a client-server app environment)
Agile and DevOps, with experience in navigating the transition to cloud SaaS vendor-supported solutions.
Mainframe/COBOL (currently core systems environment)
EDUCATION, CERTS & DEGREES: Not mandatory, but preferred.
OVERVIEW:
Looking for a highly-skilled and qualified Application Development Manager or Director. Our client is moving into newer technology. The technology plan is to upgrade their platforms into Cloud. For somebody who has growth and implementation of products and features as part of their mindset, this would be a perfect place for them to make recommendations to leverage technology and tools.
Must be local to SoCal; and available right away.
This person must have a blend of Microsoft Visual Basic, .NET and SQL experience (in a client-server app environment), and also strong with Agile and DevOps, with experience in navigating the transition to cloud SaaS vendor-supported solutions.
Experience with Mainframe/COBOL is a plus, as part of our core systems environment.
JOB SUMMARY: The Application Development Manager is responsible for working with various business partners to investigate, understand and analyze the business processes to create, modify, and/or repair systems and solutions based on a combination of impact to the organization and the strategic direction of the IT department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Lead the application development team in establishing a continuous improvement mindset, working to improve the skills of the team based on industry trends and best practice.
Manage departmental internal controls and regulatory issues.
Defines goals, measure progress, and coach team members on the development team to ensure their growth in break fix, new development, and implementation efforts.
Continuous improvement of our business processes from a software development focus, with a goal in mind of automation, efficiency gains, new solutions, alert refinement, and improvement functionality.
Provides day-to-day management of project deliverables, including communication to relevant parties of progress, escalation of issues as they arise, and strategic planning to alleviate potential collisions.
Supports the organization through business requirements gathering and specification review to ensure changes, new development, and package installations meet expectations.
Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Provide an environment where engineering innovation and continuous learning can thrive and team commitment flourishes
Define goals and success with clear, measurable objectives and key results.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED required
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field
5 years of related experience developing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting software systems.
Aptitude for independent strategic thinking as well as the ability to identify, leverage, and execute best practices while demonstrating a continuously innovative mindset.
Proficient in Microsoft office Suite and similar software
Able to drive business change through the use of technology and information
Critical thinker/problem solver willing to take initiative with minimal direction
