Salary: <$90K>base plus Annual Incentives, etc.

Size of staff to oversee: 27-35 (2 direct reports – Manager & Ops)

Reports To: Sr. Director of Ops

Reason for opening: Person has been in this role for 8 years and is moving in to another industry. Current GM will provide knowledge transfer and be available for questions after he leaves

As The General Manager is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of his or her assigned location, emphasizing the areas of Management of Customer Service, Operations, Human Resources, and Fleet Management and Maintenance. The General Manager is also responsible for optimizing the profitable revenue growth of the location with a strong sales focus and increasing the market share of the location through superior customer service.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supports and motivates employees; ensures they have the resources and training to do their job
• Sets goals to achieve company financial and service targets for location
• Instills Customer Service as a top priority for all employees
• Maximize revenue while minimizing and controlling costs
• Sets goals for payroll expense to transactional volume; establishes schedules based on transactional volume
• Monitors sales practices to avoid deceptive sales practices and report findings to the Director of Operations
• Ensures the interior location is neat, clean, and organized in presentation and personnel are appropriately dressed
• Monitors the customer service rendered by all rental agents to make sure the Six-Step Service-Based Sales process is followed and company standards of customer service are maintained
• Follows all company policies and procedures
• Participates in all phases of employee management, including but not limited to recruiting, discipline, training, performance reviews, and scheduling
• Monitors and reviews pricing and availability of fleet with Director of Operations and Rate Manager; stays in tune with local market conditions to maximize pricing
• Addresses and responds to customer complaints promptly
• Ensure the location is a safe working environment for all employees
• Other duties as assigned

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: 

Education-

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and/or the equivalent combination of education.

Experience-

• Minimum of five years’ experience as a manager or supervisor
• Previous experience as a manager or supervisor with a rental car company is highly preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS/EQUIPMENT USED:

• Light to moderate physical activity
• Work schedule generally consists of 50 to 60 hours per week, varying in shift based on location staffing needs and various other factors
• Work is performed in a typical office environment as well as outside in all types of weather and temperatures
• Limited to moderate exposure to unusual elements such as temperature, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises, which may vary based on location
• Equipment used- a large variety of vehicles (may include 15-passenger vans and airport buses, based on location), safety belts, 2-way radio or cellular phone, phone system, computer equipment, printer, fax, safe
