The brief criteria is:

• Must live locally to be considered
• Must have D2C (with consumer goods products), commerce engines experience, and still be a very hands-on, roll-up sleeves technical leader on the website to consumer side vs the backend.
• Must be able to dig deep technically with the team as well as be able to communicate with the business.

Job Summary:

Our client seeks an experienced, hands-on, roll-up-sleeves (D2C) VP/CTO/CIO who can lead the digital, direct-to-consumer transformation efforts, oversee IT functions/infrastructure, and optimize the e-commerce platform within a smaller company to see the big picture.

The ideal candidate will have experience working for eCommerce companies that earn $100M-400M in revenue, at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science, and at least ten years of experience leading multiple teams.

In addition, the person must have experience in commerce engines, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, NetSuite or equivalent ERP System, and other relevant technologies.

• Recent eCommerce, D2C experience
  • candidates in eComm space with experience of selling goods to customers rather than SaaS.
• Hands-on, Roll Up the Sleeves Technical Leader
  • A candidate who has both deep technical knowledge and the ability to convey complex concepts and decisions to the rest of the organization.
  • Not long-winded and can switch gears from rolling up sleeves with the tech team to communicating with the business units for high-level details.
  • Somebody who can have a conversation with the tech team in the technology leadership role and then with members of the organization outside of his/her team.
  • A person who can roll up their sleeves and dive into the various systems implementation projects without a significant learning curve.
• Clearly very knowledgeable, organized, and experienced

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement custom software technology strategy in alignment with the business goals and objectives.

• Lead the digital transformation efforts to enhance the e-commerce platform, improve customer experience, and drive online sales.
• Oversee all company IT functions and infrastructure, including hardware, software, network management, and information security.
• Oversee the development and implementation of SEO strategies.
• Ensure the stability of running platforms and processes.
• Migrate from dedicated hosting to AWS, including overseeing the migration of all remaining sites, in 4 months.
• Optimize the company’s e-commerce platform by incorporating AI in appropriate eCommerce settings.
• Manage the relationship with 3rd party development partners and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on key initiatives.
• Assist in selecting and technically implementing the new ERP system, Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Assist in the selection and technically implementing of the new BI platform.
• Oversee and project manage the technology side of IoT-connected consumer goods, including cloud databases, apps, security, and upgrades.
• Ensure all technology initiatives align with the company’s goals, values, and mission.
• Ensure there are documented processes for any backup and recovery activities, and there are activities that test those processes.
• Manage any IT-related needs for the physical corporate office in Sherman Oaks.

Must-Have Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science

• 10+ years of experience leading multiple teams
• Direct-to-consumer experience
• 3+ years of experience with Commerce engines
• 3+ years of experience working with AWS

• Experience working in e-Commerce and the ability to spot and understand how to solve the unique needs of a company that sells physical goods

• Experience implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, NetSuite, or equivalent ERP System
• Strong project management skills with experience delivering complex IT projects on time and within budget
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong leadership skills with experience in managing teams
• Experience in cybersecurity and risk management
• Prior experience with PCI compliance
• Knowledge of best practices in digital transformation and eCommerce optimization
• Knowledge of Incident Management, Cloud Monitoring, User Insights, A/B Testing, CICD, and other application development tools
• Strong oral and written communication skills

Nice-to-Have Requirements:

• Master’s degree in business administration or master’s in supply chain management
• Prior software development experience
• Prior product management experience
• Lean/Six Sigma Continuous Improvement certified
• Experience implementing and selecting a WMS such as Manhattan or Korber (HighJump)
• Experience building or implementing and selecting an Order Management System such as Odoo, Skubana, Orderhive
